Early Kindergarten Better Immediate Results, Better Later?

After introducing all day kindergarten to Ontario, University of Toronto researchers have released results showing improved performance of students in the program versus those on half day, as described in this Globe and Mail article.

Seems impressive, but the question that is also important is what happens down the line. Do these students continue to outperform their half day peers or does their performance converge to the same level. I'm guessing that they converge as time goes on and the researchers are planning on more tests for grade three with these students. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing some grade eight results eventually. If they are the same, is the high cost of providing all day kindergarten worth it?
